Bihar: Students aiming for higher studies will soon have one more university to choose from.

Nalanda, one of the world's most ancient universities, in Bihar is set to re-open in 2010.

Eminent economist, Professor Amartya Sen is likely to be on its faculty.

Sen is presently a lecturer at the Harvard University. He said that he had no qualms about taking time off to lecture at what will be called the Nalanda International University.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Former President A P J Abdul Kalam, and Lord Meghanad Desai of the London School of Economics are supporting this dream project.

The 2500-year-old Nalanda University that fell to disrepair in the 12th century will target global academics offering postgraduate courses primarily in Budhism, philosophy and religion.
