New Delhi: The 33rd Toronto International Film Festival has thrown up quite a surprise with director Danny Boyle's film Slumdog Millionaire, winning the People's Choice Award.
The movie is set in the slums of Mumbai and traces the rise of protagonist Jamal, when he wins the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, and his downfall when he is accused of cheating.
It also won the popular vote at Toronto Film Festival and boasts of Bollywood stars like Anil Kapoor and Irrfan Khan. The film's music has been scored by AR Rahman.
