Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh: Nine-year-old Puneet who had fallen into a borewell at Kannauj on Saturday is now dead.
In what looks to be a clear case of negligence, the borewell in front of the child's school did not have a cover.
It was around 1400 hours (IST) on Saturday when young Puneet fell into this sixty foot deep borewell.
He was stuck at the bottom of the 36th feet open well.
A local farmer spotted him falling in it and had alerted the district administration.
Barely, a month ago, a 2-year-old Sonu, from an area near Agra, had fallen into an unmanned borewell and had died after rescue workers failed to help him out after trying for 2 days.
These incidents depict a grim picture of the sheer callousness of the public works administration.
