Kanpur: An anti-quota forum has decided to launch a countrywide signature campaign to garner public support for its protests against reservations in elite educational institutions.
The campaign - One, One Coin, One Sign and Save the Nation - will be launched from July 1, spokesman of the Forum of Indian Against Reservation, Chandrashekhar said on Wednesday.
The decision to launch the drive was taken at a three-day meeting of the representatives of 18 elite educational institutions held in Bangalore from June 16 to 18, he said.
The campaign is being run to create awareness among the public, who will be asked to contribute Re 1 and participate in a signature drive.
The funds thus collected would be sent to President APJ Abdul Kalam before the monsoon session of the Parliament begins, he said.
"We would urge the President to save the nation from the reservation fire and vote bank politics," Chandrashekhar added.
