TOTAL CHAOS: Opposition members were on their feet demanding setting aside the regular business.
New Delhi: Opposition parties stalled proceedings in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Thursday, leading to an adjournment of the House.
They were protesting against the raids conducted by the Andhra police on the offices of Margadarsi Financiers, owned by the Eeenadu Media Group.
The Congress government is alleging that Margadarsi Chit Funds had collected 2,600 crores from the public and isn't in a position to pay back investors. But Eenadu's owner Ramoji Rao is refuting the charges.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy announced that he was disallowing adjournment motions submitted by the TDP, CPI, CPI-M and TRS on the raids on Margadarsi Financiers.
The opposition party members were on their feet demanding setting aside the regular business to discuss the raids conducted on Margadarsi Financiers.
Though the Speaker wanted the members to meet him in his chambers during the tea break to discuss the issue, the opposition members refused and raised slogans against alleged 'dictatorial' attitude of the Congress government.
