New York: Hollywood star and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has apologised after calling a Puerto Rican lawmaker "very hot".
Schwarzenegger had said of Republican Bonnie Garcia, "Black blood mixed with Latino blood equals hot."
"Anyone out there that feels offended by these comments, I just want to say I'm sorry. The fact is that if I would hear this kind of comments in my house, by my kids, I would be upset, and today (Friday), when I read it in the papers it made me cringe," Schwarzenegger was quoted as saying by hollywood.com.
Garcia, whose parents are from Puerto Rico, insists there was no need for Schwarzenegger to apologise, saying she refers to herself as a "hot-blooded Latina" all the time.
But state Treasurer Phil Angelides said the governor "used language that is deeply offensive to all Californians".
