Bhubaneshwar: The long arm of law is now catching up with Orissa DJP BB Mohanty, who is allegedly sheltering his son, Biti Mohanty convicted of raping a German tourist in Alwar.

Orisssa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered the suspension of Mohanty on Friday evening.

"B B Mohanty has been suspended today as you know that NBW come from Rajasthan court. I understand police are trying to find will find him law will certainly take it course. The law will be same for senior officer or any one else,” says Patnaik.

On Monday, the chief judicial magistrate rejected Mohanty's plea to convert a non-bailable warrant issued against him into a bailable one.

Following that, the Rajasthan police handed over the arrest warrants for Mohanty and the absconding Biti to the Cuttack district magistrate.

"I received two copy of NBW from Cuttack collector of B B Mohanty and son Biti Hotra Mohanty for execution, we are taken all steps to execute the warrant. We are also taking steps to execute the warrant. We will immediately verify whether Mr Mohanty is in office or in home. We are going all out execute the warrant,” says Cuttack SP, Soumendra Priyadarshi.

Biti had jumped parole while serving a seven-year sentence in December and since then has been in hiding.

Mohanty seems to have exhausted all legal options now and must appear before the court.
