CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND? Rajkumar has told CBI he can guide them to murder weapon.
New Delhi: The CBI team investigating the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case on Saturday sent Rajkumar - the domestic help of Durranis - to 14 days custody. According to the CBI, Rajkumar has confessed to his involvement in the double murders and can give crucial details.
The agency told a court in Ghaziabad that Rajkumar confessed to switching off Arushi's cellphone and then destroyed it and that he'll lead the investigating agency to Hemraj's cellphone and the all-important murder weapon.
"We asked for a 14 day custody because we need to find the murder weapon,” said CBI lawyer RK Saini.
The CBI has recorded Rajkumar’s statement under Section 161(CrPC) which renders it inadmissible as evidence in the court of law. In fact Rajkumar had said in the court that he is innocent and had no objections in being taken into the CBI custody.
"We are being framed. He is innocent and what the CBI has told the court is irrelevant,” said Rajkumar’s lawyer, Sanjay Tyagi.
Twenty-nine days since it took over the case, the CBI is yet to crack it. Despite several searches at the Talwar and Durani residences and even drains around the Talwar house, the agency is yet to find anything concrete that can be produced as evidence in the court of law.
The case still hinges on the DNA sampling report of Rajkumar’s T-shirt. If the report confirms either Arushi or Hemraj's blood on it, the manservant’s involvement will be clear. But if the results turn out to negative, the CBI will find itself right where it had started.
