New Delhi: The Centre is going to demand an explanation from the Noida police regarding its statements on the murder of Arushi Talwar after allegations that it had slandered the teenager, say media reports.
Arushi, 14, was found murdered in her bedroom at her L-32 Jalvayu Vihar home in Sector-25 in Noida two weeks ago. Arushi’s father, dentist Rajesh Talwar, was arrested on Friday and charged with the murders.
Women and child rights groups allege police officials have been insensitive while making statements on Arushi’s murder and have slandered her.
Gurudarshan Singh, Inspector General of Police for Meerut zone, has alleged that Talwar found Arushi and Hemraj in an “objectionable position” and killed them.
Police allege that Arushi knew about an alleged extra-marital affair that Rajesh Talwar was apparently having. Police also said that Arushi “close” to Hemraj.
Police had earlier revealed the name of a boy who was Arushi’s friend and had helped them in their investigation.
Officials of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Woman and Child Development Ministry believe the police has violated the Juvenile Justice Act, say reports.
