New Delhi: As if Mistress of Spices bombing in the UK wasn’t a news bad enough for Aishwarya Rai, rumour mills in Bollywood are working overtime to deliver a second blow to the doe-eyed spinster.
After a whirlwind of starry breakups and dangerous liaisons associated with Ms Rai, the grapevine is now abuzz that she has parted ways with Bollywood’s current flavour Abhishek Bachchan.
Well, that's kind of putting it mildly.
Actually, it’s reportedly Abhishek who has called it off with Ash. The reason, if the rumors are to be believed, is that Aishwarya is from Mars... err... she’s a manglik ( people who have an influence of planet Mars in their astrological chart).
And quite understandably, the Bachchans do not want the “dark shadow of Mars” on their son’s Bollywood career which has just taken off to a flier.
The sources also say that “the Bachchans are very superstitious people and had only consented to the relationship for their son’s happiness” and so, it’s curtains to the hyped romance.
The rumours of them being an item gathered momentum after it was learnt that the actor's uncle Ajitabh Bachchan visited well known astrologer Chandrashekhar Swami in Bangalore with the horoscopes of the young couple.
The speculation was gaining grounds especially since Ash's appearance at the Jr Bachchan's do, where she is reported to have been introduced to Jaya and Amitabh and other relatives.
Abhishek was reported to have "dragged" the former Miss World to the dance floor repeatedly during the party. The Jr B is also reported to have cut the cake and offered her a piece after Amitabh and Jaya.
But the news of the breakup has already sparked off more conspiracy theories. While some say the split is an attempt to bring the focus on the star couples, other claim that it’s a befitting climax to a fictitious relationship.
The truth? Only time will tell.
