India's oldest western fast food giant Nirula’s is ready for a price battle with McDonald's. And adding to the price zing, Nirula’s will serve up a new menu as well. In an attempt to take on McDonald’s might, Nirula’s is offering a wide array of comfort food for anything between Rs 19 and 35.

BPTP bags Rs 5,000 crore Noida land deal

Delhi based BPTP has landed India's largest land deal. In an auction by the Noida authority, BPTP won 95 acres for a whopping Rs 5,006 crores. This works out to Rs 1.31 lakhs a square meter or Rs 52.60 crores an acre. BPTP will have to pay 25 per cent of this amount upfront and the company says the entire deal will be mainly funded by internal accruals.

Consumer goods sector unhappy with Budget

This year's populist Budget has offered a two per cent cut on excise duty on the consumer durables industry. Though the Finance Minister admitted to a slowdown in the consumer goods/durables sector, the Budget has very little for this troubled industry. The excise cut of 2 per cent is counterbalanced by an increase in abatement and adds up to just 1.3-1.5 per cent of real benefit.
