Chennai might also be polluted but remember that Chennai gets sea breeze every day which helps to reduce the amount of polluted air while Bangalore does not have this luxury. The altitude the city is in makes a big difference. The IT companies should do something to provide transport to all its employees which will reduce the number of two wheelers a lot, but not many are willing to rely on the company transport as they will still need a vehicle for their own personal use.

About the article i donot accept the rise in pollution due to 2 wheeler. if u absorb max pollution in arised due to auto, bus and diesel vehicles. obviously 2 wheelers are rising day by day in bangalore as we do not have adequate number of govt buses or its frequency. agree we need to cut the rising pollution, suggest the automakers to bring in 2 wheelers on LPG or electric then every one will say LPG cost has gone up or power bill and tariff has gone up. So there is no end if you want to leave in bangalore u need to bear what is happening. else move out of bangalore and stay at other place where pollution is free. every one needs luxury urban life and do not want to suffer. If thats being the case stop allowing people coming into bangalore(Best option) who will take the initiative so that pollution as well as population will come under control

You cannot just blame the people for this mess..all politicians and officials ,including the environmentalist who have woken up just now, to think what they did, planned and executed with good faith, without corruption,to plan and keep the city a Garden City.. There has to be political will and good officials to get the people on right track of saving Bangalore

No good roads....traffic jams....half the city does'nt have footpaths and the other half has footpaths which are useless to pedestrains....no good drinking water.....some areas have no proper drainages.....finally no good air to breathe.....! At what cost is India shining?

Even I have two-wheeler and I use for less than 8 to 10 km range...if it is more then I depend public transport (BMTC) and a ticket of Rs.30/- you can change n number of buses and reach the destination.....I even came to know close to 5000 people come to bangalore every day in search of jobs from Bihar, UP, Chennai.

I stay in bangalore and i have a two wheeler. The public transport is absolutely horrible. The number and frequency of busses, the fact that bus transport is stopped at 10 PM, routes followed etc. The volvo busses which they have introduced, are practically not useful. The bike owners and car owners are responsible for pollution, but i would like the author to give a complete picture on the public transport system of bangalore and then ask the readers to give their judgements.

Why is not public transport not practical. It takes time to get used to it. Volvo will probably cost the same as going by car. Would you not prefer to take a ride on a chauffer driven air-conditioned swedish bus ?
I gave up my 2 - wheeler to go from Jayanagar 3rd block to ITPL. I change two bus and it is never hard. Believe me, I either read or take a good nap when the bus driver swears at the traffic. Before Volvo I took a bus to corporation and then took a KSRTC bus going through ITPL. Just give it a shot mate and then decide.
Make and effort and dont just talk. It is easy to criticise than make a honest effort.

This is a complete coverup! Why did the pollution board forget the Cab and Auto service which pollute bangalore day in and out. None of them are compliant to pollution norms.Pollution board being a government agency do not want to black-list tehm and loose the vote bank and funds coming from these massive unions.
