Mumbai: All the 14 members of the Indian team to be picked for the ICC Champions Trophy will be tested ahead of the 10-nation event to be held in October-November.

"We are thinking on those lines. To take urine samples of all those chosen for the tournament and send them to Malaysia or Bangkok (Thailand) for dope testing. Why take any chances," Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said on Thursday.

As per the International Cricket Council guidelines for tournaments organised under its banner, dope testing is mandatory at laboratories recognised by World Anti Doping Agency.

Australian spin ace Shane Warne had to return home without playing a single game in the last World Cup in 2003 in South Africa after testing positive for a diuretic at home.

The Indian teams for both the Champions Trophy and the preceding three-nation tournament in Kuala Lumpur (September 12-24) are to be chosen on the same day, either September 5 or 6, Shah said.

"We have to submit the Champions Trophy 14 to the ICC by September 7 and it makes sense in selecting both the squads on the same day. It will be done either on September 5 or 6," he said.

The BCCI selection committee has already short listed 30 probables and this list needs to be pruned down to 14 on or before September 7.

The Champions Trophy is to be played from October 7 to November 5 at four venues. The venues are Ahmedabad, Mohali, Jaipur and Mumbai.
