Medha Patkar's stand is clear: If the Government wants to build big dams and displace people, then it must accept responsibility for the impacts.

Vispi Jokhi Well done CNNIBN for the interview. Although far from perfect but at least an attempt was made to tell the truth about the Narmada and NBA. The sincereity and simplicity of Medha Patkar came across along with the facts about how flawed and wrong is the SSP. I hope that the people under the leadership of NBA succeed in obtaining their right but more important change the parametres of development from an exclusive unsustainable pattern to an inclusive sustainable pattern. Small is beautiful.

Rajesh Dear Rajdeep
To an uninitiated, gullible Indian, it seems that Medha epitomises the extreme essence of Indian sense of sacrifice and great non voilent fight for a "noble cause".
But tell me, is it not true that NBA has been responsible for stalling all rehabilitation work for the oustees----, to the extent that all kinds of oppressive and voilent measures are being used.
Is there a sinister hidden agenda, more than what meets the eye????

Rajesh Patel Please, go thorugh below mentioned link to get latest and updated information on Sardar Sarovar dam and its activities.

I would like if people who give support without knowing about Dam, like Aamir and other so many Sheep Followers, go through this link and know something about Dam. So atleast they have some knowledge to part with ethical discussion.

Here they can knowledge with all fact files with pictorial proof not like Ms. Mehga where Proof is less and activity is more.

http://sardarsarovardam.org/

I also request to Mr. Rajdeep and his team to get Something from this site to Get Little Idea of Dam and Activity of Sardar Sarovar Nigam Ltd.

Enjoy.

Chirag Patidar Dear Rajdeep,

Your programme “Being Medha – Fasting for a cause” was a crude joke. Probably you have deliberately ignored one important fact that sitting on dharnas, jal samadhi’s and hunger strikes is her business, which she is doing since 1987.

With 218 FIRs against the activists of her organization, I swear, only Medha Patkar can dare to compare her andolan with the most poised freedom struggle of the Country. Hats off to an Ahmedabad based NGO "national council for civil liberties" for bringing the truth before the nation.

Come down to MP and see her activities, i am ready to sponsor your visit.

Good luck to you.

more Sampathkumar Iyangar Crusades/struggles for what one thinks is right are one thing, and farce fasts are another. The authorities must of course be not allowed cheat the displaced people by not compensating them fairly. The advisability of sinking more and more funds behind the project must indeed be reexamined through systematic cost benefit analysis in the light of escalating costs due to fair rehabilitation, mounting interest costs and diminishing benefits. People who benefit from rampant corruption and inefficiency in the project must definitely be nabbed. It is time the media treated hunger strikers on a par with streakers and suicide bombers. They all indulge in blackmail and prevent rational decision making. This applies equally to Patkar who undertakes indefinite fasts at the drop of a hat and Modi, who announced a 51-hour fast and triumphantly ended it much earlier! It was Mohandas Gandhi who degraded fasts from its original status of being a spiritual experience into a political weapon. The sooner the public and Media stopped entertaining such blackmailers, the better.

Nishith I would like to suggest Medha that if she is really want serious about fighting for people. Please go to the Kutch and Saurastra where not only people but the animals too die without water.

Kalpesh B Rajdeep,
Are you editing whatever your writer writes? If yes, I may not be you fan more as a Gujarati and if no, ask your staff to go through all aspects as a part of Journalism. If a person like you appraises Patkar, will not be justified to Journalism. Keep Modi's fasting Drama aside and think over people who are waiting for Water to come to their Fields and homes for long long years. Now, the time has come to get Narmada waters to their place by increasing height of Dam. I request you to personally visit Kutch and Saurashtra region and review your above slot for Patkar who is really doing nothing for really affected people. If you India TV report, you can clearly see her so called "constructive work". She is telling, even if somebody has not got land for farming is also a incomplete rehabilitation, than what about one family is not getting water for a week. If a man can not get land in time they can survive from doing some job work, but how man can survive without water which is I think government has declared basic need.Rajdeep, please try to be impartial on this issue. Waiting for correction or a true aspect change on your this Topic.

Sanjay If Megha Patkar wanted to fight for a cause then there are much more serious causes in India then NBA that she could have taken up.
