Mumbai: Boy meets girl, they fall in love, but the problem is
that at 34, she is very young and at 64, he isn't. And it doesn't help that the girl's father is younger than the boy.
That's the basic premise of R Balakrishnan's debut film Cheeni Kum starring Big B, Tabu and Paresh Rawal.
If you think the story sounds similar to Ramu's recent box office dud Nishabd, here's what Bachchan had to say: "I would never do two films on the same subject. The only similarity is the age difference between the characters."
The story is set in London and for the first time in his career, Bachchan plays a chef. It's a sarcastic take on life with lots of love and philosophy thrown in.
And Bachchan is more than impressed with his co-actor Zohra Sehgal who plays his mother in the film."I still have that diary where I had taken Zohra's autograph when I was seven or eight years old. It's amazing to see the kind of energy she has," says Bollywood's biggest star.
The film's music is by Illayraja and from the promos, Cheeni Kum looks interesting. The film will have its first public screening at the Cannes market.
