New Delhi: Combing operations are on after a major gunbattle in Kashmir. Eleven infiltrators belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba and Al-Badr besides an Army jawan are reported dead in the encounter.

The encounter, near Tangdhar sector in Kashmir, at an altitude of 12,000 feet, lasted three days.

The Army has described it as one of the biggest infiltration bids in the recent past in the fog-hit Lepa valley. The 20 Rashtriya Rifles and 16 Jat regiment say the group was on a mission to disrupt upcoming polls in the state.

The Army says more than 500 militants are waiting at their launch pads to be pushed into Kashmir to disrupt the polls.
