MORE WOES: Water entered into 12 villages from a new breach in the Sahja embankment.
Patna: The flood situation is Bihar is still grim with water entering into 12 villages in Bhagalpur from a new breach in the Sahja embankment even as a major part of 16 districts in the state are flooded with Kosi's water.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has appealed to all victims in the flood-affected areas to shift to safer places on their own or by utilising transportation provided by the state government.
He also appealed to them to immediately get in touch with agencies engaged in relief and rehabilitation operation.
In his message broadcast over the Patna All India Radio, Nitish said the state government was serious enough to evacuate each and every marooned person in the flood-affected areas as soon as possible.
He also said that 256 relief centres were working round the clock to provide food and other essentials to the flood victims. ''I appeal to all victims who are still hesitating to shift to the safer places to respond to my request by utilising the facilities offered by the state government and other agencies,'' he said.
He assured that all help and assistance would be provided to the flood victims in relief centres and there should not be any suspicion over the fact from any quarter. ''The sooner the flood victims respond to my appeal, the better would be for their lives and properties,'' he added.
Meanwhile officials said water in the new course that the Kosi has charted out as also the water flowing in its nine tributaries has merged into the Ganga at Kursela
