BAD ROADS,viz. narrow roads, congested roads, potholed roads, roads with dangerous speed-breakers,roads half-caved in,roads broken-up and pebbled,filth-filled roads, roads with no policing especially ones with no SIGNALS or non-working signals which leave much to be desired in terms of discipline and lead to constant ROAD-GRID-LOCK situations lead to loss of patience and ROAD RAGE and even carry forward of ANGER at HOME! TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT is part of this PLAN TO STOP ROAD RAGE. THE TRAFFIC BRANCH SHOULD take part in this exercise and award the cops who help come up with SOLUTIONS to TRAFFIC SNARLS and IMPLEMENT THEM. PLEASE ENCOURAGE NEW INITIATIVES and PROBLEM SOLVING in TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT as an ON-GOING PROCESS with evolving TRAFFIC Patterns.

"ROAD RAGE" is a physical manifestation of the psychological pressures of motoring on Indian Roads be it in Delhi or Mumbai or Bangalore. In Mumbai for eg.look at the patience that the Motorists have to show driving through Asalpha Road from Ghatkopar to SAKI NAKA,Andheri. The relentless traffic jams caused by the mix of BIG VEHICLES,SMALL VEHICLES,smaller 2 wheelers, the footloose pedestrians crossing. It IS A NIGHTMARE crossing the roads in such horrendous bumper-to-bumper traffic day in and night out. Added to this is the pathetic condition of the roads, full of potholes come the rains, the narrowness constricting traffic like a Python's grip. Then there is ABSENCE OF FOOTPATHS EVERYWHERE. Where is the pedestrian supposed to walk? It has to be on the roads. So to STOP ROAD RAGE:- 01. Build WIDER ROADS;02.BUILD FOOTPATHS FOR ALL ROADS;03.BUILD ROADS even tarred but SLOPING on BOTH SIDES to let RAIN WATER ESCAPE INTO EXIT DRAINAGES on BOTH SIDES OF ROADS;04. HAVE SEPARATE LANES FOR BUSES & heavy Vehicles and separate for 2 WHEELERS/3 WHEELERS and 4 Wheel cars. Without this segragation MODERN DAY TRAFFIC WILL BE UNMANAGEABLE. IF ABOVE MEASURES ARE UNDERTAKEN....ROADS WILL BE A DREAM PLACE FOR MOTORISTS...THERE WILL BE NO ROAD RAGE!

Don't act Ignorant by asking such questions. Look to the countries who have managed it well. Send a 'doer' team to learn and implement. No point starting the super big discussion and waisting time and money.
thanks Anuj

This is the problem with the culture we all developed. 1)Lets stop blaming politicians for everything, instead lets accept our mistake and work for better utilization of existing resources 2)Every individual has to have respect of law, and a person following the law must not be mocked
when we have these two rules in mind, we can get better,
after all driving is exhibition of your character.

I think a major catalyst to road rage is seeing other people act irresponsibly in traffic ... hence I think the best way to decrease road rage is proper enforcement of traffic rules. I think there should be a monthly or quarterly or at least a learly Refresher for all citizens, so that everyone who is on the road knows the whys and hows of traffic rules and the reason to follow them.
This would definitely require a lot of logistics, so I guess it should be driven at a school/ college/ company level.
Apart from this I am in total agreement with Priyanka who has already talked about sidewalks etc.

Severe punishement. We need to make sure that these animals get punished. Consistancy of punishment is equally important as severity. We let many get away with crimes.

why all these happen?answer to this question is that if we put up one lesson to all such criminals, then i think that in future others will dare to commit such a heinous crime.we take thuings easy and let it go afterwards but if this continues then i wonder, sometime it will be me or any one , who will be the victim of such crimes.lets us teach by punishing them severely.

I totally concur with Priyanka. But honking is already banned in school and hospital zones. Its difficult to ban that when animals still take shelter on the Indian streets. Pedestrian right of way must be enforced, else their driving licenses should be revoked.
