New Delhi: It's been four days since 23-year-old BIT-Mesra Abhishek Mishra reportedly drowned in a waterfall and died while on a picnic with his friends near Ranchi.

But the mystery behind his death is yet to be solved.

Abhishek was reportedly a close friend of Railway Minister Lalu Yadav's daughter Ragini, who had also accompanied him to the fateful picnic.

While, Abhishek's family is crying foul play and says that it was a planned murder, two of Abhishek's friends - who were with him at the picnic and have come out of hiding after four days - maintain that it was an accident.

Meanwhile, two RJD MPs - Raghunath Jha and Akhilesh Kumar Singh – also visited Abhishek Mishra's family in New Delhi raising more eyebrows.

Abhishek's father had earlier claimed that the boy's drowning had something to do with his relationship with Ragini. But the MLAs said they had only come to offer their condolences.

“I have not come here as an RJD MP. I have just come to console him,” Jha said.

No FIR has been lodged yet and Abhishek's family is even more upset because their plea for a CBI probe has been rejected by the Jharkhand government.

The state police say that the evidence collected till does not suggest foul play.

“Though Dr Mishra had not lodged any FIR, a case of unnatural death had been lodged, but if there was anything to suggest to the contrary the case could be turned into a murder case,” says SSP Ranchi, N P Singh.

With the Jharkand police showing a lukewarm approach to the case, the only hope for the family is a probable judicial inquiry.
