New Delhi: With the Left withdrawing its support to the Indo-US Civil Nuclear Deal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should seek a Vote of Confidence in the Lok Sabha.

"It's an unnatural alliance and this was expected. Both Congress and Left have lost credibility. Now the government is in minority and the Prime Minister should seek a Vote of Confidence," BJP President Rajnath Singh said.

Murli Manohar Joshi questioned if the Left would stick to its decision to actually withdraw support to the UPA.

"They should have withdrawn support earlier. Even now some of the are still saying let us not withdraw now. Let us see how they behave in future'," Murali said.

The Congress called for an emergency meeting at Sonia Gandhi's residence and insisted that the government was stable and that it had the numbers to face a trust vote.

Earlier on Tuesday, Communist Party of India-Marxist General Secretary Prakash Karat, after a meeting of the Left Coordination Committee in New Delhi said that the Left parties will be meeting President Pratibha Patil on Wednesday to hand over their letter of withdrawal.
