BJP gets support of three more MLAs in Karnataka

New Delhi: Political activity towards formation of a new government is picking pace in Karnataka.
The newly elected BJP MLAs will meet in Bangalore on Monday to formally elect B S Yeddyurappa as their legislature party leader.
Meanwhile, the BJP has claimed support of three independents and its confident of forming government in Karnataka.
Yeddyurappa, who led the BJP to its historic 110-seat victory in the 224-member Karnataka Assembly, will meet Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Monday and stake claim to form the next government.
Senior leaders Venkaiah Naidu and Arun Jaitley will be the central observers at the legislature party meeting.
The new BJP Government is expected to be sworn in on Wednesday. Though the BJP fell short of a simple majority in the Assembly, it is expecting to gain the support of independents, including two party rebels, who won.
The saffron party, which has emerged as the single largest party and set to win 111 seats, falling two short of a simple majority in the 224-member house, expressed confidence of cobbling up the required numbers from independents.
Party sources said its rebels in Kanakagiri and Hosadurga who had emerged victorious as independents would support BJP in government formation.
BJP state unit President D V Sadananda Gowda said some of the independents have evinced interest in extending support.
Reacting to the saffron party surge, a beaming Yeddyurappa said, "It is a historic win. We are happy that the people have reposed faith in BJP and me. It is a humbling experience. We will strive for all round development of Karnataka." Yeddyurappa, who has plans to take oath on May 28, said "it was the dream of Atalji and Advani to install a BJP government in the south. That has come true today".
The BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate said development would be the party's only agenda. On Sunday He promised to extend BPOs to rural areas, address issues on regional imbalance and encourage industries.
