New Delhi: The Sheila Dikshit government in Delhi is in for some more trouble following Sunday’s Blueline bus accident.

The opposition BJP is now demanding the resignation of Shiela Dikshit her of failing to take steps to rein in the Blueline menace in the capital.

"We are demanding the resignation of Shiela Dikshit. She is directly responsible for this incident," news agency PTI quoted BJP Secretary Vijay Goel as saying.

Eight persons are feared dead after a speeding Blueline bus ran over 14 pedestrians in South Delhi.

The bus – on route number 460 – was plying between Minto Road and Badarpur in the Capital. The accident took place when the Blueline bus was trying to overtake a DTC bus near the Aligaon area in Sarita Vihar.

“The speed meter of the bus was tampered and now it is being seen how such tampering can be checked,” said Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf.

The government is trying its best to avoid such accidents and strict action would be taken against the driver and the owner of the bus,” added Yusuf.

The minister also assured that an inquiry committee under DCP (South) would submit its report within two days after further action would be taken.
