Based on today's world, where online dating is as common as cheese, both Aryan and Alisha luck out as Worddiva is a 28-year-old lawyer Alisha Menon and Wordfreak is a 25-year-old architect Aryan Chawla. By coincidence they both not only live in Mumbai but are also gorgeous and rich to boot. Alisha and Aryan meet each other at a blind date and fall for each other like a ton of bricks upon sight. Wordfreak and Worddiva hit it off from their first online Scrabble game.
A contemporary love story, the first half of the book is like a Mills and Boon novel, where pages are devoted to just how wonderful Aryan thinks Alisha is and just how adorable Alisha thinks Aryan is despite how perturbed she is by their age difference. If you are into this sort of romantic fluff, those chapters have been entertaining.
Alisha is the shy and reticent protagonist who like any other Indian girl tries to please her parents by pretending to be the obedient daughter. However, she also hides another life from them, one that she is not so proud of. Aryan hides his past beneath his gorgeous smile. But due to an unfortunate run-in Alisha has with one of her clients, all his insecurities coming to the fore. From that point onwards, the story starts to focus on Aryan and his relationships and how Alisha acts as a catalyst in helping him resolve his crises.
The supporting characters are also well-developed especially Diya and Uncle Sam who are very relatable. The entire narrative is peppered with sayings with amusing quotes like 'Ek wife lao, saare dukh bhagao.'
A fun story, it is an engaging read once you get past the sappiness which permeates through in the beginning of the story and makes you roll your eyes because of the sheer mushiness of it.
