How the #100HappyDays theme went viral after people started posting photos of things that made them happy

Being happy isn't easy. We know, it's time-consuming and we're all too busy. There are so many things (work, sleep, driving through traffic) that distract us from enjoying and appreciating the simple things that life has to offer. And, by simple, we don't mean poetic stuff like the chirping birds or the silver lining enveloping a dark cloud. We mean things that actually bring a smile to our faces. For instance, meeting an honest auto guy on your way to work on a Monday morning, getting your pizza for free cos the delivery guy didn't make it in 30 minutes, finding money in your jeans pocket or getting a call from a school friend after six months are a few things that make us truly happy. The creators of the website feel that the increased speed of life has impacted people today in a way that they "there is less and less time to enjoy the moment that you are in". They add: "The ability to appreciate the moment, the environment and yourself in it, is the base for the bridge towards long term happiness of any human being." The website urges people to click pictures of things that make them happy every day for 100 days; the objective: to make busy bees realise what their real happiness quotient is.
While believing that we'd be happier if we were a bit richer, a bit thinner, a bit prettier, we ignore the moment we are living in. Website 100happydays.com has taken up the challenge to make people realise how happy they already are.
According to the creators, "71% of people tried to complete this challenge, but failed quoting lack of time as the main reason. These people simply did not have time to be happy. Do you?"
The idea of the website is simple: "Every day submit a picture of what made you happy! It can be anything from a meet-up with a friend to a very tasty cake in the nearby coffee place, from a feeling of being at home after a hard day to a favor you did to a stranger." 100happydays also says: "#100happyday challenge is for you - not for anyone else. It is not a happiness competition or a showing off contest. If you try to please / make others jealous via your pictures - you lose without even starting. Same goes for cheating."
Yes. It seems like a tall order to post pictures EVERY DAY for 100 days to be happy. But hey, isn't two minutes a day a teeny-weeny price to be happy forever? "People successfully completing the challenge claimed to: Start noticing what makes them happy every day; be in a better mood every day; start receiving more compliments from other people; realize how lucky they are to have the life they have; become more optimistic; fall in love during the challenge," 100happydays.com on why you need to take up this challenge. "Even when the challenge is over the collected 100 happy moments can always remind you about the beauty of your life. For that, you can receive a little 100 page book with your 100 happy days at the finish line of the challenge!"
The choice is yours - do you want to be one of the 71% or the 29%?
