ARTISTICALLY SPEAKING: The whole collection is about anxiety, fear and treachery.
New Delhi: Artists Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Tyeb Mehta and F N Souza: what could possibly be that common thread that holds them together?
Contrasting in their cultural backgrounds, their response to London post World War II is similar.
The whole collection is about anxiety, fear and treachery. But what's interesting is how our masters were influenced by the works of Bacon and Freud.
If Bacon has showed twisted melted bodies, you find similar glimpses of that in Souza's form.
Each one of them break away from tradition to expose the distressed times of post war.
You can catch the show at Vadehra Art Gallery in the Capital, on till September 28.
