New Delhi: The CBI on Friday arrested the compounder of Dr Rajesh Talwar, accused of murdering his daughter Arushi and domestic help Hemraj.
Krishna was arrested on the basis of lie detector and narco-analysis tests, said a senior CBI officer in Delhi.
"We have carried out two tests—polygraph test and narco analysis test—on Krishna in Bangalore. We conducted two other tests before leaving for Bangalore. A psychological test was conducted on him in AIIMS on June 9. On the basis on these, we have arrested him," said CBI joint director Arun Kumar.
Kumar refused to comment on details of the tests, saying: "investigations are on". It is not clear on what charges the police have arrested Krishna.
No evidence against Dr Talwar?
The CBI has also detained Rajkumar, the domestic help of doctor couple Praful and Anita Durrani.
Sources tell CNN-IBN the CBI has found no evidence against Dr Talwar, who it believes was resting after taking sleeping pills on the night of the murders on May 15. Sources said the CBI hasn’t absolved Dr Talwar but will continue with its investigation to find proof against him.
Krishna, Rajkumar and Hemraj hail from Nepal. The CBI suspects Krishna and Rajkumar were drinking in Hemraj’s room on the night of May 15. Hemraj was present too but no alcohol was found in his body.
The CBI has established that Arushi and Hemraj were murdered with a khukri.
Krishna’s lawyer F C Sharma rejected the CBI’s allegations against his client and said he would apply for bail. Sharma alleged that CBI had detained Krishna illegally.
Arushi’s aunt Vandana Talwar reacted cautiously to the CBI’s statement. "We are happy that CBI is on the right track. We are just waiting for justice," she said.
Aarushi, 14, was found dead in her Noida home May 16. The UP Police initially named Hemraj as the main suspect, but his body was found on the terrace of the house the next day.
The UP police arrested Dr Talwar, a famous dentist, a week later and allege he murdered Arushi and Hemraj because they had come to know about his affair with Dr Anita.
