New Delhi: In China, hundreds of troops slogged through mud and rubble to reach the epicentre of Monday's earthquake. Elsewhere in Sichuan province, the army was parachuting food, water and medicines into devastated areas. In most places rescue efforts are in top gear but only dead bodies are being recovered. The authorities have scaled up their estimate of those dead to over 15,000.
