Arjun A work of fiction must be viewed as fiction only. Come on ,it's just a story. Nobody is gonna believe Hrithik Roshan can fly after watching " Krish "
The censor board must decide on banning a movie, not religious organizations.Protests against a much awaited hollywood movie is unfair !!!!!

more sushil Da Vinci code should be banned, Salman Rushdie should be banned, Taslima Nasreen should also be banned. Also ban 'Me Nathuram Gose Boltoe'. But we should organize more shows of Hussains painting showing Nude Hindu godess. We should organize more plays by SAHAMAT showing RAM and SITA were siblings.

partha Hi,

I am disappointed. It has been long awaited by me to watch the DaVinci code movie and it was quite a blow to hear that the movie release was held back. The main reason behind this is the protest by Christian religious groups who claim that this movie taints the image of Jesus and propagates lies. I think it is up to people to believe what they want to believe given the information.

My respect for the Christian religion has in no way gone down after reading the book. Jesus was respected not just for his celibacy but for the values he held, for the life lessons he taught, for his virtues such as goodness, generosity, purity of heart, love for others and a willingness to sacrifice his self. It actually makes him a better example as to how a family man can still uphold the highest of values and live a life of righteousness and glory.

I am of the strong belief that without so much of the hoopla created by the movie would have been another movie which talks of controversial ideas. If it is not true then why bother? May be the pertinent question is whether they believe in Jesus as much as I do?

FRan Tomorrow if I write a sensational 'fiction' novel about the sexual escapades of a top Bollywood actor who is respected worldwide, using his name and identity and in the process make derogatory claims about him, will the champions of free speech hail this novel as a work of art?? Will the concerned actor who belongs to the same fraternity as that of Dan Brown not sue me?? I would like to know whether the champions of free speech will tolerate if I use the identities of their own parents in a fiction novel where the characters are portrayed in poor light?

This is a larger issue of whether an author or film-maker can use the identities of religious figures and make blasphemous stories on it.

Free speech has its limits. There is a world of difference between criticism and slander!!

more vineet mundhra So here we go....The great leap backwards...Wow Now India would make headlines across the world being the only country to ban Da Vinci Code.... Well who are you afraid of...If u have faith can a movie which is fiction shake it.....And where does our freedom of expression go....If they are making the movie and It is being allowed to be released elsewhere Why this special case in India....Anyways people wjo want to see it will see it....Can u control the internet or piracy drive..no ways....So banning is completely illogical...Those who dont want to see it dont do it please...But stay out on imposing any terms on us... And we love the book because of its story...We dont have anything against Christianity....So IB people, display some sense and refrain from taking such an outrageous step.....

Raymond J. Mendonca In all this contraversy, Sony Pictures and Dan Brown are going to be laughing all the way to the bank..

Kunal Bharadwaj It is more than 2 years since the book was launched. If the Christian community was so sensitive about the storyline, why didnt it organise a protest at the time of the book launch or a fatwa against the writer Dan Brown but waited for the movie release??

The Christian faith has always been tolerant and should stay its ground in this issue. Works of fiction like the Da Vince code are not going to shake off the faiths of millions of Christians the world over.

Let the movie run for people to watch and enjoy. If banned it will only encourage piracy...

nagarajan It seems Christian organization are more worried about the Indian language version (Hindi & if I'm not wrong two other south Indian language). But they should remember that faith is in the heart and movies cannot erase it.
