New Delhi: Paamil Bhutani is one of the 44 shop owners in Yusuf Sarai who have been asked to shut shop or vacate because of the construction of the Green Park Metro station.

Bhutani says it's not as if the shopkeepers are againt the Delhi Metro, but all they are asking for is proper rehabilitation.

"One fine morning, on February 18, I chanced upon a public note in a newspaper saying some shops in Green Park were to be cleared to make way for a Metro station. There was no official notice for us, either from the DDA or the DMRC. No one came to inform us," says Bhutani.

The guidelines of the rehabilitation policy issued by the DMRC states that shopkeepers will be adjusted in whatever land is available in the vicinity.

"How can we start from scratch? The place where we are being rehabilitated is not aggrebale to us at all," says Bhutani.

DDA's Public Relations officer, Nimo Dhar says, "We are waiting for the eligibility list from the DMRC. Then only we can move forward."

With neither the DDA nor the DMRC willing to take responsibility for the proper rehabiliatation of the Metro affected Yusuf Sarai shopkeepers, it is their fate which hangs in balance.
