New Delhi: Two days after Senior Congress MP Akhilesh Das quit Congress in rebellion, HRD minister Arjun Singh has in a book on his political career questioned the style of decision making saying the party lacks internal democracy.

In the book titled Mohe Kahan Vishraam (No Time to Rest), Arjun Singh has expressed concern over “fragmentation” in the decision making process.

“In the past, there were many more occasions to express one’s views during this process and now since people do not feel part of that process, there are no qualms in disobeying the diktats,” he says in the book.

The book’s author, however, says Arjun Singh has been misunderstood. Further clarifying, Kanhaiya Lal Nandan says that the agency which carried the story did not make the correct translation of his interview in Hindi.

“He has not ‘lamented’ about anything,” the book’s author, Kanahiya Lal Nandan, said.

The book will be released by President Pratibha Patil on Friday and it chronicles 51 years of the social-political life of the Congress leader who has weathered many a political storms in his life.

Corrigendum: In the earlier version of the story, Mr Nandan was incorrectly quoted as saying that Arjun Singh was uncomfortable with the Hindi language. What he meant was the agency which carried the story had misinterpreted his interview in the book. The error is regretted.
