New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi - who has been the main campaigner for his party in the state's assembly elections - is visiting the party office in Uttar Pradesh for the first time.

Monday’s meeting, the first in a series, aims at improving the party's base in the state.

Congress's performance in the state had raised questions over Rahul's capability to get votes.

However, the Congress star had brushed off his responsibility by saying that the party had not done well because of its poor organisation.

In a press conference convened on Monday afternoon, Rahul admitted there were loopholes in Congress’ strategy in Uttar Pradesh. “We cannot say Congress party doesn't have any shortcomings in UP. The party has been is unable to attract youth in UP,” he said.

Rahul also said he “doesn’t believe” in vote-bank politics.
