New Delhi: Police in Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, roughed up a group of protesting students on Saturday as the students blocked traffic on National Highway 2 demanding that the police nab the people who killed their school principal, Santosh Kumar Dhakra.
The school principal was attacked and killed by a group of unidentified persons in his house on Friday. Another school official too was killed a few days ago.
Armed assailants broke into Dhakra's rented house last night and killed him on the spot. His landlady was also injured in the process and was hospitalised.
The incident comes close on the heels of gunning down of the owner of the school, Subhash Chand Jatav, on December four and police suspected that yesterday's killing could be connected to his murder.
The protesting students said that the police pulled them by hair and baton charged them to clear the road. While the boys ran away when the police arrived, the girls kept sitting, they said.
A magesterial inquiry has been ordered into Friday night's killing.
