New Delhi: An incident on Monday night has brought to the fore how unsafe Delhi’s roads have become.

A couple working with a leading software firm was chased by a band of four drunken men after a minor car accident.

Forty-year-old Jasjeet was returning from a friend’s place in Model Town when his car was hit near the Lodhi Road flyover by an Indica. When he protested, the four men in the Indica – who were drunk – tried to assault him and pull his wife out of the car.

Jasjeet sped away from the spot, only to be followed by the four people. Their ordeal finally ended when they reached the police station at Greater Kailash part I.

“They just came and they banged the car from one side and then they came and they parked the car right in front of ours. One guy came out and started abusing and banging on the window and telling my husband to come out,” recalled Jasjeet’s wife, Gagan. “Basically I think they had ill intentions and they wanted to harass us.”

The police immediately arrested all four men and have said that one of the accused, Arjun, is a driver in a tour and travel company.

“I did not follow them. They hit my car, I tried to stop them. Four people were sitting in the back seat (of my car), yes. Had it been my fault I would have stopped my car,” Arjun said.

The four men have been charged with road rage, threatening and assault.
