New Delhi: In fresh trouble for BCCI chief N Srinivasan, those against him in the cricketing body have said his future will be decided in the next 48 hours, sources revealed. Earlier in the day, CNN-IBN revealed that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had already warned the BCCI over the involvement of Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan with bookies after the start of IPL 6 in April.
If Srinivasan does not step down as BCCI President in the next two days, the cricketing body will call a special emergency meeting to decide its next step, sources added. Srinivasan has been maintaining that he will not resign from his post, even though he said he will stay away from the probe into the IPL scandal. Those demanding his resignation have been saying he should step down on moral grounds because of the involvement of his son-in-law.
Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar, Rajiv Shukla and Arun Jaitley held backroom parleys to find a solution to the deadlock, sources said. On Friday, BCCI treasurer Ajay Shirke held a press conference in Pune, where he reiterated that he would resign from his post if the current crises that the Board faces are not dealt with appropriately.
