Live updates from day four of the second Test between New Zealand and England played at Basin Reserve, Wellington.
End of 68 overs: 162 for 2 (Stumps) Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor have kept New Zealand in the game and most of the day lost to rain a draw can be a likely result unless New Zealand crumble.
Rain has interrupted play as the second session was about to start. This is good news for New Zealand and the delay is expected to be for around 20 minutes.
End of 62 overs: 153 for 2: Lunch taken A solid session for New Zealand after the early loss of Peter Fulton. Kane Williamson put his head down in the middle compiling a time consuming 51 off 158 balls as his partner Ross Taylor too took a dogged approach scoring 36 off 70, Monty Panesar looked threatening in the middle in the morning session but the Williamson-Taylor managed to hang in there. New Zealand still trail England by 58 runs following-on.
End of 53 overs: 125 for 2: Monty Panesar got purchase from the pitch as he bowled over the wicket to the right-handers but was inconsistent with his line. Taylor and Williamson had trouble negotiating the spinner but looked solid against the seamers. Taylor has moved to 23 off 46 and Willimason has scored 36 off 128 balls.
End of 45 overs: 104 for 2: New Zealand went past the 100-run mark following on with Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson putting their head down. Williamson has faced 111 balls for his 34 whereas Taylor has got five off 15.
End of 37 overs: 81 for 2: James Anderson got England to a good start dismissing the overnight batsman Peter Fulton for 45. Little foot movement by Fulton as he dabbed an outside off delivery to first slip. Ross Taylor has joined Kane Willimason in the middle.
Following-on and still trailing England by 134 runs, New Zealand will be trying to put up a better batting performance in the second innings than the 1st. Peter Fulton and Kane Williamson have started off well land the hosts will be hoping the duo will be able to withered the first hour of play without any damage.
Day 2 summary: New Zealand reached 77 for 1 at stumps on the third day of the second Test against England, still 134 runs behind the tourists after being forced to follow on. England bowled out New Zealand for 254 early on Saturday in reply to their own first innings of 465, with Stuart Broad taking 6-51 and Monty Panesar claiming the wicket of opener Hamish Rutherford before stumps.
Peter Fulton and Kane Williamson provided some resistance later in the day, adding 52 runs before stumps. Fulton was 41 not out. "Obviously we're disappointed with the way we batted in the first innings but Peter Fulton and Kane Williamson have done a good job to pull us back a little bit," New Zealand's BJ Watling said.
