New Delhi: Parvinder Awana and Pawal Suyal took seven wickets between them to bowl out Tamil Nadu for 226 and help Delhi take an upper hand by enforcing follow-on, but the two Delhi pacers want to keep the visitors under the pump and press for an outright win on day four of the Group B Ranji Trophy match.
Awana bowled a spell of 4 for 53, complemented by Suyal with figures of 3 for 76, to help Delhi take a 329-run lead on day three, but the job is only half done as Delhi need to bowl out Tamil Nadu again to bag maximum points.
"It's difficult but not impossible," Suyal said talking to reporters after stumps on Monday. "Looking at Tamil Nadu's batting line-up, we didn't expect to bowl them out cheaply, but we have. That gives us hope to do it again tomorrow and win."
Awana backed Suyal's comments, saying the morning session is a good time to bowl with the new ball and take wickets. "The ball was doing a fair bit in the morning, like it did today." Suyal snapped up Baba Aparajith off the first ball on Monday, followed by Awana trapping Arun Karthik in front 14 runs later.
"There was not much help in the afternoon, which forced us to bowl stumps to stumps after lunch. But after tea, we started getting some help again with the second new ball," Awana added.
Tamil Nadu collapsed after tea, losing their last six wickets for 39 runs to allow Delhi take a mammoth lead and ensure themselves at least three points even if the game ends in a draw.
