New Delhi: Jagmohan Dalmiya, who was on Sunday asked to take over BCCI's day to day activities by its members after its current chief stepped N Srinivasan stepped aside in the wake of the IPL scandal, told CNN-IBN that he is "confident of winning back the trust of the fans". Dalmiya was chosen to take over the BCCI's workings after a long meeting of the cricketing body's board members in Chennai on Sunday.
After holding out for more than two weeks, Srinivasan agreed to "step aside" on Sunday but maintained he will not discharge his duties till the probe in the IPL betting and spot-fixing scandal is over.
However, Ajay Shirke and Sanjay Jagdale, who vacated their respective posts of BCCI Treasurer and Secretary refused to withdraw their resignations despite board members' request. "We have said come along, let us work together. They have said they will let us know in the morning. If they don't, we will see what to do," Dalmiya said.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and BCCI Vice-President Arun Jaitley said the inquiry in the scandal is on and confirmed that Srinivasan will not discharge his duties. "Let us give an opportunity to Dalmiya. He is a very honorable man," Jaitley said.
