New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell returned on Wednesday the passports of suspended Rajasthan Royals owner Raj Kundra and his aide Umesh Goenka. The Delhi Police also reportedly asked the Rajasthan Police to take appropriate action against Kundra, who was interrogated in connection with the IPL betting case and was later suspended by the BCCI.
Kundra, however, has been claiming innocence. After the BCCI suspended him pending inquiry, Kundra in a statement had said he was "shocked, saddened and hurt" with the decision and that he will "fight the grounds of suspension".
"All those who know me are aware that sport is my first love. I own a minority 11.7% share in Rajasthan Royals...It shocks, saddens and hurts me when my integrity towards sport is questioned, especially knowing that there are very few who have taken the initiative and been successful in the development of sport in India," he had said. Kundra said he trusted India's judicial system and was hopeful that he will come out clean.
