New Delhi: Kerala opening batsman VA Jagadeesh on Sunday said he didnt think of his double hundred after his marathon knock of 199 against Services on Sunday. Jagadeesh remained unbeaten on 199 when Sandeep Warrier, the last batman, was scalped by Nishan Singh for a duck. Jagadeesh played 384 balls and smashed 19 boundaries and one gigantic six in his magnificent knock.
It was the first ever instance in Ranji Trophy that a player remained not out on 199 at the end of the innings. 11 players have been out on 199 so far in Ranji Trophy history.Speaking to the Cricketnext.com, Jagadeesh said, I didnt think of my double ton. I wanted to set a good total for my team. I am satisfied with the 300 plus score but it could have been much better if we had managed to touch the 400-run mark. I just asked my team-mates to play straight but we couldnt save wickets. But we are satisfied with the score, he added. We have taken two wickets also. We will look forward to bundle out Services innings as soon as possible tomorrow. Warrier did the job for us today. He is our key bowler, the 29-year-old added. On being asked about the aggression that he showed after lunch, the opener said, I was not trying to be aggressive. We had just two wickets in hand and they could have fallen anytime. So I was taking as much as strike as possible and whenever I got chance to hit a boundary, I went for it.
