more Rahul IMPORTANT FOR ENGINEERS ===> NEGOTIATE WELL OR THEY WONT MIND SENDING YOU TO JAIL.
You see one is getting big orders and another is stopping investment of 10 million USD in India but as usual poor Patnaik even after contributing in 33 projects has to go to Jail and still they say IT does not need union. Anyway my advice to all good people like Patnaik, next time negotiate well for your contribution. If you are so important that someone has to take decision about his 10 million then you don’t deserve Jail but few million. With these crooks behave like business man and not like slave. I mean behave like a crook or you will end up in Jail. Learn to value your contribution or tell them to go from where they came to exploit your talent as slave.

more Chandra a. Acme is not a foreign company
b. This has nothing to do with BPO
c. The issue here is not about BPOs, it is how the law of the land operates. There must be some reason why this gentleman got a bail isn't it

Dont sensationalise an issue for noting. Cheers

Nikus Lack of personal integrity has costed our political freedom and resultant economic strength for more than 1000 years. The same reason is still doing harm to us.

It has been in US that Corporate crimes have been committed in Huge volumes, like Enronn etc.

Manohar If companies dont take IT security as serious as they should, then these issues will keep closing down firms.

nilabh Agree to all,
The reason why only indian thefts are highlighted is the increasing unimployment due to offshoring.
People out there are highly resistent to this and they are trying to prove to the world that we are not trust worthy.
Engaging in activities like these will only increase their strength and the ultimate sufferer would be the loyal employees working with the BPO industry and indian economy.
Its really hard to elude the greed when such offers are made and comes down to only self concious.
No law can prevent these incidents only individuals can.

Regards,
Nilabh

Rajeswararao Infosys has not suffered any data theft. So also TCS, Wipro, iGate, and scores of other giants. So it Acme which has not taken proper steps to prevent data theft. Every courntry has its share of dishonest people who want to make a fast buck. "A new survey released by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu has revealed that a huge 82% of Financial Service Institutions (FSIs) globally have suffered a security breach in the last twelve months - and 72% of those compromised said that the breach cost them more than $1 million.

Half of respondents admitted that they had suffered both external and internal security breaches. 58% of FSIs claimed that combatting identity theft would be a major focus for them in the next year.

The survey highlighted the fact that addressing identity theft required a rounded approach, including mechanisms to manage the use of portable computing devices and to restrict the ability to move data off the network without proper authorization."

Amlan Bagchi Its a shame for our country and countrymen. These White-collar thieves are not only in the IT-industry, but gradually flooding other areas also, thereby tarnishing the image of this great country. We need to punish them heavily by our own people.

Andy ITS NOT ABOUT PREACHING MORAL VALUES TO INDIA OR INDIANS NOR IS IT ASKING INDIANS TO BE SAINTS, ITS ABOUT LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY, LACK OF A LAW WHICH MAKES THE COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS FEEL SAFER AND LACK OF EDUCATION AMONG THE COMMON MAN IN INDIA(INCLUDING THE POLICE, MINISTERS AND OTHER ATUTHORITIES) IN PRIVACY. FOR INDIANS WORDS LIKE PRIVACY,PERSONAL SPACE ETC ARE VIRTUALLY NON EXISTENT. PARENTS BREACH THE PRIVATE SPACE OF CHILDREN IN THE NAME OF PARENTING, "TEACHING GOOD CULTURE" ETC AND WE DONT EVEN HAVE TO TALK ABOUT NEIGHBOURS,FRIENDS OR OTHER RELATIVES. SO LACK OF RESPECT FOR OTHERS PRIVACY AND SPACE STARTS RIGHT FROM HOME. I'M SURE MOST OF THE PEOPLE IN INDIA WOULDN'T AHVE HEARD OF "DATA SECURITY" 10 YEARS BACK. EVERYONE REALIZES THAT THIEVES EXIST ALL OVER THE WORLD AND THAT PEOPLE ARE GREEDY FOR MORE MONEY AND ITS NOT SOMETHING EXCLUSIVE TO INDIA OR INDIANS. HOWEVER, EVERYONE ALSO REALIZES THAT INDIA DOESN'T AHVE A PROPER LAW TO COMBAT SUCH PROBLEMS AND EVEN IF THERE IS A LAW, ITS NOT IMPLEMENTED PROPERLY BECAUSE PEOPLE JUST DONT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY AND ITS THE LACK OF SERIOUSNESS TOWARDS THESE KIND OF CRIMES WHICH IS MORE DANGEROUS AND ALARMING THAN ANYTHING.
