JD No wonder Mr. Arjun Singh does not value merit. He doesnt know what merit is as he doesnt have any.

Pramod Salunkhe Very good interview karan.
The goverment has to give main stress on primary education. Then they has to think of higher education. There are many peoples who even doesn't know about these facilities. By these facilities, rich OBCs are becoming richer and poor have found no growth. In general category also there are peoples below poverty line. So my suggestion is reservation should be based on poverty line and not on the the caste basis.

Lilesh Karan, you have wasted your presious time taking the interview of an ASS, who don't know anything. Karan, as you are very much in touch with the subject, is there any reservation in Rajya & Lok Sabha or for the post of HRD Minister for OBC, if yes please forward my Candidature. I am OBC & i wanna to be HRD Minister.
Mr. Minister, please let me know when & where you goes to morning walk, i wanna to repeat the Climax Scene of RANG DE BASANTI.

Mahesh Excellant interview Karan. Its really sad that the so called able ministers are making the life of the students and indians at large miserable for their own political benefits. The Reservations should be extented to only those who deserve it and with proper logic and know how not just to gain political support in terms of minority votes.

Rupesh Agrawal Great Homework and reserach by Karan Thapar to compile the right data.....This Interview clearly shows the way "DECISIONS" are taken by our so called representatives in our "INTEREST"....
if we let these kind of people to get elected and do the same with us ...there is nothing that can STOP us from remaining underdeveloped in perpetuity
Hats off to all the people fighting for this cause

Nikita Congratulations Mr. Thapar!! You actually caught our HRD minister sleeping!!

Our HRD ministry does not know what direction it is going in. Neither does the government. In trying to please a particular section of the society it is depriving many deserving students of their right to study and what could be a better timing than announce the reservations just at the eve of elections.
This move which started as more an election mandate than a welfare issue by our "considerate & sympathatic" Union Minister has boomranged back at the government and it now seems to be in a hurry to cover it all up. A minister who is not even aware of the real fact and figures and is not ready to tke ownership of the issue does not deserve to remain a minister.

And just one more thing I would like to remind the minister that the "Parliament" is made up of elected representative of the "People Of India" and the govt is equally accountable to the very people who elected it in the first place. Remember the "Parliament" and the "Constitution" is not above the welfare of very people for whom it was created.

cynthia I am utterly dissappointed the way things are looking for our state. First of all our Human Resource Minister is himself confused and doesn't know whose favour the decision should be?
The whole scenorio is a political gimmick and the ministers presume it to be a prestige issue to go back on the words and to revoke the taken decision.
I totally agree with the withdrawal of the OBC quota and will fight for it till the outcome is in the righteous favour.
Jaihind!!

ramesh Karan Thapar is one of the best interviewer i have ever seen. The statistics you have brought are really too good which shows the lack of knowledge about facts in arjun singh. All he knows is the word parliament. Unless and untill such people are rulling the country there is no doubt we remain underdeveloped.

Bhaskar No body, even the govt itself doesnt know why actually it is doing this. The actuall intentions behind this reservations are not either for developing OBC or something else, its just a poitical game in which people elected by people are ruining the lifes of the people.

BBG Why is not reservation applicable to Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha seats and Ministry positions? Reserve Ministry of HRD for SC/ST/OBC.Let General Category students remain illiterate and serve the nation.
