As the debate over the reservations for the OBCs divides the country, Karan Thapar asks Human Resource Development Arjun Singh - What are the government's real intentions? Read The Article
I felt very ashamed to read the minister's replies. He could say nothing other than that the parliament had decided. Is it too much to expect our ministers to know the facts and figures before they take major decisions that affect the future of the country? Is he not supposed to have some knowledge about these issues; some thoughts and some long term plan of action? He sounded like a messenger boy conveying someone's decision. How do we allow such incompetency in our democracy?

Respected Minister,
I am appalled as well as disappointed after reading the whole interview. There is not even a single question which you answered based on fact or data. Are we living in democracy?
If according to abovesaid report 52% of Indian population is OBC then why don't you declare them as general caste and give qouta to upper castes? Anyways upper castes are minority. That way backward caste people will feel better as government of India will recognize them as general caste and upper caste population will be in better position if they have reserved seat. Then I am sure no one will talk about increasing the reservation percentage.
Another point I would like to bring about is why there is no reservation in Parliament? Why don't we have 53% MP seat reserved for OBCs?? Do you have any answere for this?
At least you could have taken a decision based on facts and data.
I am sure that as a representative of 1.2 billion people, you will take a sane decision and will not play with young and bright Indians.
God Bless India, Rahul Gupta

Valaguru Nehru
Respected Minister, We are 100 % with You Sir. Don't worry about higher caste opposition.Reservation was only created by higher caste before some centuries. They were the persons who had separated people as Brahmins, Sathriyas,Vaishiyas,Panchamas and Sutras. They were only 4 % percentage of population, but they had occupied 98 % percentage of Govt and private jobs. Now ,son of the soil cliam some percentage of participation, they are craying with the help of some socalled MNCS . Don't worry sir. 80 % population of this country (55 % of OBC and 25 % of SC & ST) will have your name in their heart .Your name is going to be printed in golden letters as like Hon.Thiru V.P.Singh. Long Live V.P.Singh Long Live Arjun Singh. Long Live Reservation for OBC & SC STs. Valaguru Nehru, Tamil Nadu

nobody in the coming generations of these politicians is going to write an exam for engineering/medical science. they will pass their political legacy to their offsprings and we indians are always "kind" (or to say, fool enough) to willingly accept them as our leaders. thats why they dont realize what effect raising quota will have on normal student who burns his candle to its end to shape his career. i sincerely curse arjun singh & all such politicians who practice dirty politics of divide & rule that their coming generations will not be blessed by goddess saraswati.

Rebel
Guys, dont we really need revolution? Do we really need such kind of ministers, leaders and politiciens to rule us who are not even bothered about our welfare and who are just concerned about their own benefits and playing games among each other. Lets move the system from its roots and start afresh with young minds for a modern india.

We educated people need not lamblast our politians like Mr Arjun Singh and company because as some wise men have put it so aptly "In Democracy people get the government they DESERVE" How many of us have VOTED last time in elections? and HOW MANY OF US WILL vote next time......? Is Universal Adult Franchise really the way for elections if the fate of our motherland is to be decided by majority of people who do not even know if they wil get their next meal but all they care about is the gratification that they get for having cast their votes so we have Dynastical Rule , leaders like Mr Laloo Prasad and of course RESERVATION.(By the way di Mr Karan Thapar cast his vote:-))
