Delhi: A 16-year-old girl student of a Delhi school, in RK Puram fell to her death mysteriously.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon in the Delhi based school.

Sandhya (name changed) was a Class XI student who had joined the school only two months ago. She hailed from Jharkhand and was a Science stream student.

She died after falling off the fifth-floor hostel’s bathroom window of her hostel.

The girl had returned to the hostel after attending classes and ate her lunch minutes before the incident occurred at about 2.30 pm.

The police have not confirmed suicide as the cause as no suicide note has been found.

Other students were preparing to go for tea when Sandhya went to her room number 504 of the hostel and apparently jumped to her death.

The hostel warden, Raj Bala discovered her body. She was rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Vasant Vihar but doctors there declared her dead when brought in

Though peer pressure is assumed as a cause there has been no confirmation from any quarters.

School Principal, Shyama Chona said, "She locked her bathroom from inside, broke the wire mesh and leaped out."

The girl's local guardian, Durgesh denies that there was any cause was committing suicide. The girl had no history of depression, he added.

"She was good at her studies. I see no reason why this could have happened," said Durgesh.

A family friend, Sameer said, "We have no clue what the school authorities are doing. They do not give us the real and clear reasons. A thorough investigation should be done."

The police are awaiting the post mortem report to confirm the cause of death and to investigate if there was any foul play.
