New Delhi: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh returned to his headquarters in Sirsa in Haryana after the police shifted him out of his ashram in Mysore in the middle of the night to prevent trouble.

The Dera chief took a Monday morning flight to Delhi and was promptly put on a helicopter to Sirsa. Sources in the Delhi Police said the Dera chief, who faces a threat to his life, was put on a helicopter to prevent trouble in the national capital.

The Dera chief took refuge in his ashram in Mysore on Saturday after violent protests against him in Mumbai.

Sikhs in Karnataka held a demonstration opposing his entry and demanded his expulsion from the state. According to sources, Mysore police visited his ashram and advised him to leave at around 1400 hrs IST on Monday.

Eleven persons associated with the Dera Saccha Sauda were arrested in Mumbai on Monday in connection with the gunning down of a Sikh allegedly by a bodyguard of Dera chief outside a mall in suburban Mulund.

Besides this, a total of 27 persons have been arrested on charges of rioting for indulging in protests against the killing yesterday, police said. The 11 arrested in connection with the murder case were remanded to police custody till July 2 while those held for rioting have been remanded to police custody till June 26.
