New Delhi Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh has promised action against Raj Thackeray for making derogatory remarks against north Indian politicians during his 45-minute-long speech on Saturday.

Deshmukh said Mumbai Police is going through the tapes of the speech.

“Action would be taken against Raj Thackeray after investigation on the speech given at Shivaji Park in Mumbai,” Deshmukh said while speaking from Kolhapur.

In his speech, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief lashed out at north Indians living in Maharashtra and many north Indian politicians like Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav.

“They say Raj Thackeray should bathe in the Ganges, that they will celebrate Chhath Pooja right outside my house. I challenge them to come and do it and I shall also make sure that they are sent back,” Thackeray had said.

Raj said that the human rights commission had sent him one notice but he would not care for it. He even went on to dare the state government to arrest him.

“In this state only Maharashtra Diwas will be allowed. Celebrating other states' celebrations will not be allowed, and for this if the state government wants to arrest me, then let them go ahead and arrest me,” he said continuing his tirade against the outsiders.

Raj made the speech during MNS rally, which was held to commemorate second anniversary of the party.
