New Delhi: Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh now wants Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene in the corporate battle between the two Ambani brothers.

Speaking to CNN-IBN Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, Amar Singh called Mukesh Ambani approach to the MTN deal as "disgusting" and claimed the fight between the two brothers was detrimental to the interests of the country.

Rajdeep Sardesai: Amar Singh why don't you bring a rapprochement between Mukesh and Anil Ambani just as there has been a rapprochement between the Samajwadi Party and Congress. Can't there be a rapprochement between Mukesh and Anil?

Amar Singh: I would be very happy doing that. But let me tell you it is a personal matter and it cannot be sorted by someone like me. You need a man of Manmohan Singh's stature at least to intervene because I agree with you that nation's economy will get hurt.

Rajdeep Sardesai: Are you saying Manmohan Singh should intervene in some way? Are you suggesting that it would be good if Manmohan Singh intervened to bring Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani together?

Amar Singh: I am nobody to meddle in any corporate affair like this. But Anil and Mukesh don't represent only their respective corporate groups. They represent major economic hub of this country and their fight will be definitely detrimental to the interest of shareholders and in some way to the economy of the nation. The way Mukesh is opposing this MTN deal is very disgusting because it is good for the country. At times the reaction of Anil's camp may also be detrimental. So in the circumstances somebody as senior as the Prime Minister must intervene. What is wrong? But journalists like you will say that Prime Minister is meddling in corporate, personal and messy affairs. So it is my suggestion. I don't know if it is feasible, practical or pragmatic or not.
