Mumbai: It’s almost the Harry Potter of gaming. One-and-a-half million units pre-ordered. Thousands of stores across America stayed open till midnight to sell Halo 3 - the latest in gaming. But is it really that good?
Few outside the design team know this game's secrets. But there is a global buzz surrounding the launch of Halo 3.
Gavin Ogden from www.computerandvideogaming.com says, "This is the biggest launch in video games history, ever. It's absolutely huge."
Microsoft goes further, calling it "the entertainment event of the year".
Chris Lewis from Microsoft says, "There is a real fervour out there and it's not just the game itself, it's all the spin offs, it's some of the figurines you can buy it's the stories that get told around the franchise, it's the enthusiasm for it in the online communities and the chat rooms. It is quite incredible."
In the Halo 3 game you are the hero, master chief. Your job - to save humanity from invading alien forces. It’s a familiar sci-fi tale but Microsoft predicts it'll make more money in its opening days than the %150 million blockbuster Spiderman 3. Is it really that good?
Gaming enthusiast Vikram says, "The four player death matches are fabulous. But the pace is slow which is good. Helps you be more tactical. Vehicles and machines are way to good. Graphics better than expected. I am looking forward to it."
"It looks beautiful. The graphics are amazing. But I have to say that its slow. It frustrates me. I am used to games that requires further reflexes. No I am not going to buy it," says another gaming enthusiast.
