WEALTH ISSUES: Prohibitory orders were issued on Saturday in and around the circuit house.
New Delhi: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau is interrogating former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in Patiala in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
"They will give me a questionnaire and I will answer it. I cannot remember any specifics," says Amarinder.
The case was registered against Amarinder and his son Raninder on June 20 for allegedly amassing assets and wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Though the Vigilance Bureau had summoned both Amarinder and his son for interrogation, the latter is in Italy with the court's permission at present to take shooting lessons in preparation for the Beijing Olympics.
However, Singh has called the charges baseless. His media advisor Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, and family friend and Delhi businessman Chetan Gupta have also been indicted in the case.
Prohibitory orders were issued on Saturday in and around the circuit house where the former Punjab Chief Minister was to be quizzed on Sunday to prevent possible gathering of Congress workers in the area.
