Pune: The Film and Television Institute of India that stands on the premises of the erstwhile Prabhat Studio, still preserves the structures and memories of the Prabhat era.

This was the place where legends like V Shantaram and S Fatehlal produced most of their films in 1930s.

Now, Prabhat Museum has been opened for the public. Jewelry, costumes and props used in 1930s and 40s are displayed here.

These props used at that time are still in a good condition because the production then, took good care of them as they could not afford new ones for every film.

Stills from the sets and films of the period have unique stories to tell. Actors like Dev Anand and Guru Dutt started their careers here and began bonding as friends in these studios.

Film Research Officer, FTII, Chandrashekhar Joshi says, "While the two were in the changing room to change their drapery. They exchanged their pajamas and when they realized this, they laughed, shook hands and became friends. Then Dev Anand told Guru Dutt if I ever make a film, you will direct it.”

FTII has now offered to add this museum in the Maharashtra Yatra of Mahrashtra Tourism Plan.
