Washington: Wedding jitters are being felt at the White House, where the president is practicing for what perhaps would be one of his biggest roles to date.

"Please excuse me if I'm a little sleepy. At 3 am, this morning, the red phone rang… it was the wedding planner,” George W Bush quipped.

In his new role as father of the bride, President Bush has been gearing up for giving away his daughter Jenna since the 26-year-old got engaged last summer.

"I've got a lot on my mind, by the way, getting ready to march down the aisle," he said.

Jenna Bush and her fiancé, 30-year-old Henry Hager, are expecting about 200 guests at their private nuptials in Crawford. She will be donning an Oscar de la Renta gown, with twin sister Barbara serving as maid of honour.

The couple opted for a place Jenna calls home, instead of a wedding in the nation's Capital.

"I think the White House is a historical, beautiful building, of course, but I wanted to have something more private and something that fit my personality a little bit more," said Jenna.

Her personality landed her in trouble during her father's first term – she was cited for underage drinking; but Jenna Bush has grown up to become a school teacher and most recently, an author.

Back in Crawford, there are souvenirs to commemorate the big event. The town is buzzing with excitement and the First Parents are sharing that feeling.

"Jenna is happy and Henry is very happy. That makes their mother very happy," said Laura Bush.

The last White House wedding took place in 1971 when Richard Nixon's daughter married in the Rose Garden. As for Jenna and Henry, they plan to make Baltimore their home after they tie the knot.
